For those interested in fishing for Maine Atlantic Salmon, a limited Maine Atlantic Salmon fishing season will begin this Friday, September 15th, 2006 and extend through October 15th. The season will open parts of the Penobscot River to catch and release barb-less hook fishing. This is a rare opportunity that may not be available next year. I strongly urge you to buy a stamp because all proceeds will be used for Atlantic Salmon research and management.
