Baxter State Park, Trout Brook Mountain	Millinocket	1.3 miles	intermediate
One of Baxter's less-visited peaks in the northern section gives great vistas of the rest of the park.
Borestone Mountain	Monson	2.8 miles	intermediate
Located about 10 miles southeast of Monson in Elliotsville Plantation (and just a few miles from my family's land), Borestone is a hidden gem rising from a mature northern hardwood forest.

Off Ohio Street is where the 28 acres and 4,000 feet of walking trails.
Gulf Hagas Rim Trail	Milo	8 miles	intermediate
Remote and rugged Gulf Hagas attracts hikers because of its stunning views and wilderness feel.
Little Moose	Greenville	12+ miles	intermediate
Hikers looking for lightly used trails leading to remote peaks and ponds will want to add the Little Moose Unit just north of Greenville to their "to do" list.
Nahmakanta, Turtle Ridge Trail	Millinocket	10.5 miles	intermediate
A new trail in the Nahmakanta wilderness makes a remote backcountry hike a little more accessible.
Peaked Mountain	Clifton	2.5	adv. beginner
Peaked and Little Peaked Mountains in Clifton are better known locally as Big Chick and Little Chick Hills.
White Cap Mountain	Brownville	16	advanced
Excellent views of Katahdin and the famed "100-Mile Wilderness" are found on this challenging 16-mile hike over the rugged peaks of the White Cap Range.
