Hi, I'm Carl Natale, the guy in charge of MaineToday.com's Outdoors section. I'm also a registered Maine sea kayak guide, an avid (winter) hiker, cross country skier, casual biker and a car camper. Here are my adventures.
Catching up
Yes, I have been a bad blogger and let the blog languish. To make my sins worse, a lot has been going on out there. Here's my attempt to get you up to speed:
Municipalities can still ban personal watercraft from lakes and ponds. That cuts them out of about 60 lakes and ponds in Maine.
We launched a new blogger. Karen Beaudoin's Extra Padding ... Please is about her preparation for the Trek across Maine. Karen brings the prespective of a serial Trekker. She's written three entries so far and she almost has me convinced I can do the Trek.
Travis Barrett has a good story about his first canoe launch of the season. He remembers a little too late what happens when you forget to account for strong winds. He didn't dump the boat but had to add a hike to his itinerary.
Carey Kish has started a weekly feature called the Weekend Adventure Planner. Each Thursday he is going to highlight someplace you can try during the weekend. If you're looking for ideas, Carey has some great ones for you.

Looking forward to hearing about Karen's training.
You look awfully perplexed in your header photo.
