Machias Seal Island Photos

Just thought that I would share a few pics from my visit to Machias Seal Island with the Young Birder's Track last week:

While waiting for the tide to receed, Captain Andy Paterson discussed the finer points of Lobster biology and fishing thanks to this oversized female that was hauled in by a nearby boat.

Unfortunately, I just read some sobering news about the tern colony that we enjoyed while we were there.

Oh my gosh...I read that story as well. Sure as heck didn't seem like the tern colony was doing poorly....Depressed now.

Yes, Luke, I was quite saddened when I read Ralph's post about the colony - it sure seemed vibrant while we were there. Unfortunately for the terns, the weather turned for the worse (again) at the absolute worst time for a tern.

And if you haven't checked out Amy's blog (click on the link on her name) already, I highly recommend it. She has some great commentary and photos from the Bangor Convention as well.
