Big Nocturnal Migration Last Night!
HUGE flight last night! Check out the radar images!
However, Sandy Point was very slow this morning (totals) below due to the overnight calm. After Sandy Point, I birded Winslow Park in Freeport and Twin Brook Recreation Area in Cumberland, but I have very little to show for it! The birds apparently stayed inland last night, and dispersed rapidly this morning – as usually occurs on such benign weather.

A fairly strong southeast breeze was picking up as I began our “Mini-Hawkwatch” in front of the store this morning. However, despite the wind (from the wrong direction), I spotted 12 raptors – including a very low-flying Bald Eagle – in the hour I spent scanning the skies. A flock of about 50 peeps passed by, but unfortunately they were too far away to identify. Shoot! That one have been a great addition to the yard list!
