Skiied Saddleback over vacation week after hearing about it from a friend that just bought real estate up there. What a place! I read about it in the Boston Globe in the late fall and figured I would check it out sometime this season. I was surprised with the size since I hadn't heard as much about it as I had with the other 2 big mountains in Maine. It's a big mountain that even has snowfields and some serious terrain. My kids loved it as well. I'll definately be back soon!

We visited Rangeley during the end of school vacation week. Saddleback Mountain is one of the state's best values for skiing. On Thursday, February 21 it was cold and windy and you needed to dress in layers. The conditions were excellent and with virtually no lift lines you could get in a lot of runs quickly and take a "warm-up" break. Friday was still cold but the winds had diminished. It started to snow around noontime making the visibility nil but having skiied the day before I was ready to call it an early day around 3:30.

Partly sunny sky. Sparkly, untouched corduroy. The right amount of cold. Our dream ski day appeared on February 9 at Saddleback. Warmed up on some green trails, then headed up. The white forest at the summit and the icy lake below screamed, "Photo opp!" Felt a bit out of control on the ride down, so I took a private lesson to help me ski better on steep trails. Learned some new skills and ditched bad habits while my boyfriend cruised tougher terrain. Made it down a few blue trails, practicing my new improved form and left wanting more snow, a longer winter and mostly one more ride!
