Ski and stay in AMC comfort

I'm outta here this weekend and headed once again for the White Mountains.

This time to the cozy confines of the Shapleigh bunkhouse at the new AMC Highland Center atop Crawford Notch.

I've not yet visited the new facility, much less stay there (although I've certainly enjoyed the AMC huts over the years), so this should be a real treat.

A comfy bunk, heat, showers, a common room and a hearty beeakfast to boot. And a big main lodge to relax in. All for a darn reasonable price.

That's the indoor adventure.

Outdoors, the plan for some of us (there's going to be sixteen MOACers total--thanks Andi for making the arrangements!) is to ski Cannon Mountain at the head of Franconia Notch on Saturday, then ski Wildcat at Pinkham Notch on Sunday. Others will be off hiking and exploring about the Crawford Notch area.

Should be loads of good fun.

What are you up to this weekend?

The Annual Old Timers' Hockey Tournament at Alfond in Orono. While the Black Bears are kicking butt in Albany, I'll be kicking butt on their home ice. And yes, I'll probably poke my head into the Spring Fair.

Everyone have fune...

We were up there last weekend and when i mean we were there, i mean we used their hot water bathrooms and comfy couchs to nap on for a few hours after three long days of hiking. We felt the rates to be a little high for poor collage kids on spring break, so we found the bed of my truck with -20degree down sleeping bags to be just a accomidating while using the hihland center as our basecamp.

Will Shea & Dave PM (Freinds of Jackie) hope to see you over the summer for some rafting.

Watch out for Lucky thier three legged fox up there
