Gee, now that's helpful
What will it be this winter, shorts or ski jacket?
Hard tellin' if you listen to the NOAA weather forecast.
Try this helpful statement for Maine:
"The outlook is for equal chances of warmer or cooler than normal for Maine."
Gee, thanks guys. That's brilliant!
I could've come up with that one.
So glad the government is on top of things. Makes make feel infinitely more safe and secure. Among other things.
As for the upcoming winter weather, this amateur meteorologist predicts the following:
It will be colder outside than it is now. It will snow. I will ski. And I will drink some beer.
You can bank on it.
Beyond that, who cares?
"Dear NOAA,
It's me, your friend/monitor, Carey.
I realize that after you've really worked your assessments off and done the best calculating that current meteorology can achieve, there are three, and only three, general categories of description possible for the longer range temperature outlook: A) there's a greater chance of warmer than normal temperatures, B) there's a greater chance of cooler than normal temperatures, C) there's an equal chance of warmer or cooler than normal temperatures.
If you and your triple-slick software or your weather-stick/woolly caterpillar/darts formula arrive at this third prospect, do not tell me about it. It does not please me. It annoys me. It upsets my acutely tuned sense of....sense. If you do go public with it, you must tell me you're sorry. I'm also not crazy about any '50% chance of precipitation.' Good god...take a stand, take a risk, pick a horse, wear a necktie that actually says something! Play an extra inning if you have to, so we get a clearer result. Life's a game of dodge ball, you know, and if you futz around in the middle, you make yourself a target and take one in the mush.
P.S. I'm just back from a trip, and my pals are giving me big warm cheery welcome homes...or welcomes home, or somethin'."
