The political winds
What a wild weekend on the weather front, with the heavy rains and sustained high winds.
I fully expected some livestock to fly by the house, like in the tornado scene of the Wizard of Oz. But no cow took flight that I'm aware of.
One good result of the storm winds: 80% of the ugly political campaign signs appear to have blown away.
I like that. A lot.
I much prefer the natural autumn colors on our street corners, the oaks and maples and such.
I can do without all the political crap. Seems this year Mother Nature can too.
An hour ago, I was contacted by an electronic Pat Callahan for one of those WCSH telephone polls. The only question asked (other than demographic stuff) was whether my voting decisions were/are influenced by campaign road signs. It felt good to be able to tell someone (even a recording!) that I think they are a worst blight on the natural landscape than even Carey's Honda.
November 8th cannot come soon enough for me.

I would support just about any candidate who would do away with these signs. Many of then end up in the gutters and ditches as trash. I can't believe that anyone's vote is influenced by signs everywhere. Maybe if the candidates and workers spent as much time and effort promoting their ideas and programs we would have a more responsive and effective government.
